fibromyalgia and bad weather

A recent survey of 2600+ fibromyalgia sufferers found weather and weather changes ranks high in inflammation, second only to emotional distress.

Both high humidity and barometric pressure seem to be the culprit. Falls in barometric pressure cause tissues to expand. Since space is limited, pain may be felt in sensitive areas.

There is only so much one can do to combat weather related pain. If humidity is bothersome, buy a dehumidifier. If it is cold air bundle up, wear extra clothes, use heating blankets. On the flip side if heat is a problem, stay inside during the warmest part of the day. If it cannot be avoided stay in the shade.

Bottom line- there is little that we can do about the weather short of moving to a different climate. There are no easy solutions.
